Private Sector Coordinating Council Discusses Environmental Sustainability for Economic Facilities with Quality Authority

AL-BIREH – As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the business environment and foster integration with government institutions, a delegation from the Private Sector Coordinating Council and the Palestine Trade Center (PalTrade), led by Mr. Nassar Nassar, held a high-level meeting with the Chairperson of the Environment Quality Authority (EQA), Eng. Zaghloul Samhan, to discuss mechanisms for aligning economic growth with environmental preservation.

During the meeting held at the EQA headquarters in Al-Bireh, representatives of the Council presented the private sector’s vision on the necessity of formulating environmental policies that support economic resilience. They emphasized transforming environmental challenges into investment opportunities by adopting “Green Economy” models that enhance the quality of national products and their access to international markets.

Key Highlights of the Council’s Agenda during the Meeting:

  • Integrated Partnership: Stressing that the private sector is a fundamental partner in protecting natural resources. The Council emphasized that the relationship with the Environment Quality Authority must be based on the principle of “Partnership for Development” to ensure seamless industrial and commercial operations under environmental regulations.

  • Standards and Requirements: Exploring ways to streamline and clarify environmental requirements for economic facilities. This aims to ensure voluntary compliance and improve production efficiency without imposing burdens that hinder corporate growth.

  • Sustainable Development: Council representatives reaffirmed their commitment to social and environmental responsibility, asserting that balancing industrial development with environmental protection is the cornerstone of sustainable economic stability.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain continuous coordination and establish joint working mechanisms to address outstanding environmental issues. These efforts aim to serve the supreme national interest and propel the Palestinian economy forward within a clean and sustainable environment.
